Mid-cycle refresh, and an electric COPO

A styling refresh — and, at SEMA, an all-electric eCOPO drag concept marking 50 years of COPO.

2018 Camaro — Mid-cycle refresh, and an electric COPO

2018 brought a mid-cycle styling refresh to the sixth generation. The enthusiast headline was a concept: to mark the 50th anniversary of the original COPO Camaro program, Chevrolet and Hancock and Lane Racing built the eCOPO Camaro, shown at SEMA 2018 — a 2019 COPO body with the gas engine replaced by twin BorgWarner electric motors (a combined 700+ hp / 600+ lb-ft) on an 800-volt pack, targeting 9-second quarter-miles. It remains a concept, not a production car; its motor package was deliberately designed to bolt to the same mounts as a standard LS-family COPO driveline.
