2011 Camaro

The convertible returns

A folding roof comes back to the Camaro for the first time since 2002, built in Oshawa, Ontario.

The convertible joined the fifth-generation range and reached dealers in February 2011; the V6 rating rose to 312 hp.

GM reported that all 100 Neiman Marcus convertibles were claimed in three minutes at $75,000 each.

The powertrain and identification notes below preserve configuration and model-year boundaries rather than treating every 2011 Camaro alike. Ratings use the measurement convention of their period, and visual cues are only a starting point: the VIN, factory labels, drivetrain identifiers, and surviving documentation should agree.

Engines

  • Chevrolet lists a 312-hp/278-lb-ft 3.6-liter direct-injected V6, a 426-hp/420-lb-ft manual SS V8, and a 400-hp automatic SS V8 with Active Fuel Management.

Identification

  • A convertible is the clearest range addition. The Neiman Marcus SS convertible is Deep Bordeaux with ghosted rally stripes, a matching fabric top, and matte-silver windshield frame. VIN position 10 is B for 2011.

Open questions

Still unresolved:
  • Find total convertible production and the manual/automatic split. Do not publish the stronger “fastest-selling special edition in GM history” superlative; the located GM release does not make that claim.
