The weakest single year of the fourth generation — even as the LS1 gains power.
2001 was the fourth generation's lowest-volume year, at just 29,009 cars — a shrinking, aging platform against a backdrop where GM had already signaled the F-body's end. Even so, the LS1 gained muscle, up to 325 hp for the Z28/SS, and the SLP-built SS (ram-air hood, freer exhaust) offered a catalog 335 hp step above that.
