The gadget-laden Berlinetta gets its famous digital “Graphic Control Center” — and the generation hits its sales peak.
1984 gave the luxury Berlinetta its unforgettable “Graphic Control Center”: a digital instrument cluster with digital radio readouts and two column-mounted, swiveling control pods flanking the wheel — an interface openly imitating high-tech Japanese cars, and unique to the Berlinetta (the Z28 and Sport Coupe kept conventional dashes). It rode on gold-accent aluminum wheels no other trim used.
It was also the third generation's high-water mark for volume, at 261,591 cars.
